Lauren's Way or the High Way …..

So, on Wednesday a few friends of mine went to a lovely little event; ‘Lauren’s Way Launch’. It was held at trendy little bar in Piccadilly called Jewel Bar and judging by the photos was a good night all round!

It seems everyone from The Only Way is Essex has either opened a shop (mainly in Brentwood!!), opened a bar/club or started a beauty brand – Lauren Goodger is no exception and has recently launched a brand called “Lauren’s Way’. What started off as a tanning range has now expanded to eyelashes, hair extensions and various lotions and potions.

Now, I’m no cynic but slightly confused where this came from, as wasn’t even aware Lauren worked in the beauty industry and her website Laurensway.com is giving me information away, but hey ho I’m guna give her products a go and if they are good, and only if they are good might even become a stocklister!

After the launch my friends we given a charming little goody bag full of her products and after much persuasion I’ve managed to borrow a few to try and here is my verdict. I have to say the bottles are quite cute and sassy with minimal detail, but still incorporating the pink and white branding. It has a professional look to it but still being girlie and sweet.

I was keen to try Lauren’s ‘Glam Tan’ as I’m afraid to say I’m a die hard Fake Bake Flawless lover it will take a lot to make me sway. I’ve already mentioned the packaging, but was also impressed with the instructions – clear, helpful and explanatory and the mitt that was included.

The overall result I  am very impressed with, the tan turned out a nice even colour and streak free, even though it was a bit to dark for my pasty skin (well it is from Essex after all!).  Pictures of the before and after will be coming soon just had a slight accident with the camera connection cable! The tan lasted well (about 6 days) before needing to be exfoliated off which I was pleased with. Well done Lauren.

I also managed to bag myself a set of ‘Laurens Way’ lashes. The cheap looking, see through packaging with a picture of Lauren herself I’m not so enthralled with but I am yet to use the lashes so you will have to wait for my review on these (hopefully will wear them this weekend) but they look ermmmmm very Essexy so will have to see once there on.

Please let me know if you have tried Lauren’s Way and your opinion.

Winter Beauty Tips

1. Creamier Cleanser
Cleansers strip away moisture and dry winter air tends to magnify the problem. Gel cleansers can be very drying, using creamy ones should help keep your skin moist.
2. Face Mask
Use a moisturizing facial mask at night to replenish moisture lost throughout the day.
3. Humidify
If your skin feels dry and tight even inside your home, there may not be enough moisture in the air for you. Putting bowls of water around the room will help put moisture back into your house!
4. Turn the Heater Down!
Overheating a cold home will worsen dry skin problems, so experiment with different settings on your heater to find the right temperature for both you and your skin.
5. Moisturize Daily
Moisturize throughout the day, not only your hands and face but also your whole body.
6. Watch the shower temp
Hot showers feel great in winter, but they wreak havoc on dry skin. Try a lukewarm shower instead, then pat your skin dry with a towel. Apply moisturizer as soon as you step out of the shower.
7. Alcohol Free
Avoid skin products high in alcohol. When alcohol evaporates it feels cool and refreshing, but also stripping away moisture, alcohol free is always better.
8. Blow Dry Less
If you have dry, brittle hair, don’t turn for the hair dryer. It’ll only make things worse. Dry and style your hair with a towel, and avoid blow drying if possible, however if you must make sure you reduce the time.
9. Keep Hydrated
Don’t forget to drink extra water when it’s cold and windy. This will keep your skin hydrated as well as your body.
10. Dry Lips
Chapped lips can be a big problem in winter. Use lip balm with SPF and preferably with antiseptic agents to aid in healing. Lip balms with Tea Tree are particularly good as it heal painful cracks.
Hope this helps,

Spotted - Eastenders Star gets an Indulgence Spray Tan

Eastenders actress Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning in the hit show, popped into Indulgence Beauty Salon, Bexleyheath recently for a quick spray tan before heading off to the Inside Soap Awards 2011. The awards, held at Gilgamesh in Camden last month, were full of soap stars and celebrities ready to celebrate all night long. And with Eastenders being the big winners of the night scooping five awards overall, we’re sure the cast had plenty to celebrate!
Jacqueline’s tan of choice for the night was their most popular spray tanning formula, Bali Sun, which we think looks great with her classic little black dress and fiery red heels. Jacqueline also wore the Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing lip colour in ‘Strength’; the same hot red shade to match her accessories. You can buy 'Strength' from Lovingbeauty.co.uk along with Fake Bake gradual tans to keep your tans topped up!
We think Jacqueline looks great (she definitely has the best tan out of all the girls that attended!) and she has since been back to Indulgence for more spray tans knowing they are the perfect accessory to any outfit.
Make sure you book in for your golden spray tan on your next night out – if it’s good enough for the celebs, it’s good enough for you!

I absolutely would recommend this foundation to everyone. Its easy to use, good for your skin and looks fabulous  and gives a flawless look - what more could anyone want?

bareMinerals Foundations are incredibly easy to use! With just 3 easy steps, you can achieve a flawless complexion:

1. Swirl
a small amount of bareMinerals in the lid with the brush until all the bareMinerals are tucked into the bristles.

away excess. There should be no visible bareMinerals on the outside of the brush.

We Love Beauty Trends

As we are fast approaching winter, new beauty trends are popping up everywhere ready for the party season. From nails, to make-up, to glowing skin, try one of these looks to keep one step ahead of everyone else.
The DIY Trend
Ring Finger Manicure
The new nail craze, as seen on everyone from celebrities and beauty editors. The ring finger manicure is the new way to paint nails, adding a different colour or pattern to the ring finger only, making it stand out from the others. This is a great way to make a statement with your nails, whether just trying something new with an alternate colour, or going all out with patterns and prints. So quick and easy to do, with a really effective finish. Check out out Jessica Nail range and try for yourself and let us know what you think.
The Quick Fix Trend
Big Brows
Eyebrows are back, and long gone are the days of over-tweezing and pencilling on at a right angle. Big brows were all over the catwalks for autumn/winter, so we say the bigger the better. Why not try the Bare Minerals brow liner, which uses natural mineral shades in a powder-like substance; easy to blend into the natural brow line, giving an instant update to your make-up and shaping the face with more angular lines against the cheekbones. Bare Minerals brow liner £7.46 www.lovingbeauty.co.uk
The Low Maintenance Trend
Glowing Skin
Give us a glow! Glowing, dewy skin is the must-have of the season. Banish pasty skin and give yourself a good scrub; this helps remove dead skin cells and make way for new ones, for a brighter and more radiant look. If you fancy an extra bit of colour, fake tans are perfect to give the post-Ibiza golden glow that we all want to hold onto all year round. And once the tan is on, it lasts up to 10 days with regular moisturising (we recommend Fake Bake Oil Free moisturiser) and slight top-ups of hands and the face, meaning usual make-up regimes take half the time and look even more polished. Why not visit Lovingbeautys Fake Bake Range now?
The ‘All-in-the-Method’ Trend
Cocoon Eyes
Eye make-up adds glamour to any outfit, and we particularly love this new technique championed by top make-up artists in the industry. This look takes a bit of practice, but once you’ve got the method you can experiment with all sorts of colours, shades and variations. The technique of cocoon eyes is to use eye shadow on the eye lid, blended up towards the brow bone, around the corner of the eye and lining below the lower lash line; fully enclosing the eye with colour. A thinner line should begin at the inner corner of the eye, gradually building to a bolder and more blended line to the outer corner, making the eyes appear bigger. Bold black eyeliner can also be added around the eye to bring out a contrast between the eye shadow colour and eye liner. Lovingbeauty have a great bareMinerals Make up range ….

So get to work on your new season look, and let us know what you think!

Autumn/Winter Hair Trends

Show Pony

THE humble ponytail is the hairstyle of the season for autumn/winter 2011-12, with everyone from Marc Jacobs to Christopher Kane and Gucci pulling hair high up on the catwalk. Strict, clean, simple, natural - all words used to describe the easy style most of us pull our hair into every day.
Wear your pony low and loose if you're going for a mussed-up texture - as seen at Alexander Wang and Burberry but avoid the My Little Pony Club-equestrian look by wearing a high ponytail in the centre of the head and no higher than the brow line, unless you're working it with a twist. No exposed hairbands - wrap a piece of hair or a discreet strip of material around it to keep it covered. Play with textures and trimmings – crimp your tails and then adorned with feathers for a glam-boho Seventies feel.

Textured Bob
If you've got a bob and love the length but you want to update your style then ask for a few extra layers. Layered bob creates texture, volume and can take years off!

Autumn winter hair trends
The Twist
Meet the new generation of updos! This style helps show off shiny, glossy locks and can be worn casual like Antonio Marras or as a modern take on the 1940s signature style like Badgley Mischka. Just don't forget your hairspray and lots of grips to ensure your 'do stays put all day.

Blunt Object
Thinking of going for a fringe this season? Forget sleek and subtle, the autumn/winter catwalks were awash with blunt, heavy fringes. Short, long, dark or light – this is one trend that suits all. Team with a nude lip and lots of kohl like Anna Sui or opt for a pared-down eye and statement lip like Krizia – the world's your oyster!
