We Love Beauty Trends

As we are fast approaching winter, new beauty trends are popping up everywhere ready for the party season. From nails, to make-up, to glowing skin, try one of these looks to keep one step ahead of everyone else.
The DIY Trend
Ring Finger Manicure
The new nail craze, as seen on everyone from celebrities and beauty editors. The ring finger manicure is the new way to paint nails, adding a different colour or pattern to the ring finger only, making it stand out from the others. This is a great way to make a statement with your nails, whether just trying something new with an alternate colour, or going all out with patterns and prints. So quick and easy to do, with a really effective finish. Check out out Jessica Nail range and try for yourself and let us know what you think.
The Quick Fix Trend
Big Brows
Eyebrows are back, and long gone are the days of over-tweezing and pencilling on at a right angle. Big brows were all over the catwalks for autumn/winter, so we say the bigger the better. Why not try the Bare Minerals brow liner, which uses natural mineral shades in a powder-like substance; easy to blend into the natural brow line, giving an instant update to your make-up and shaping the face with more angular lines against the cheekbones. Bare Minerals brow liner £7.46 www.lovingbeauty.co.uk
The Low Maintenance Trend
Glowing Skin
Give us a glow! Glowing, dewy skin is the must-have of the season. Banish pasty skin and give yourself a good scrub; this helps remove dead skin cells and make way for new ones, for a brighter and more radiant look. If you fancy an extra bit of colour, fake tans are perfect to give the post-Ibiza golden glow that we all want to hold onto all year round. And once the tan is on, it lasts up to 10 days with regular moisturising (we recommend Fake Bake Oil Free moisturiser) and slight top-ups of hands and the face, meaning usual make-up regimes take half the time and look even more polished. Why not visit Lovingbeautys Fake Bake Range now?
The ‘All-in-the-Method’ Trend
Cocoon Eyes
Eye make-up adds glamour to any outfit, and we particularly love this new technique championed by top make-up artists in the industry. This look takes a bit of practice, but once you’ve got the method you can experiment with all sorts of colours, shades and variations. The technique of cocoon eyes is to use eye shadow on the eye lid, blended up towards the brow bone, around the corner of the eye and lining below the lower lash line; fully enclosing the eye with colour. A thinner line should begin at the inner corner of the eye, gradually building to a bolder and more blended line to the outer corner, making the eyes appear bigger. Bold black eyeliner can also be added around the eye to bring out a contrast between the eye shadow colour and eye liner. Lovingbeauty have a great bareMinerals Make up range ….

So get to work on your new season look, and let us know what you think!

Autumn/Winter Hair Trends

Show Pony

THE humble ponytail is the hairstyle of the season for autumn/winter 2011-12, with everyone from Marc Jacobs to Christopher Kane and Gucci pulling hair high up on the catwalk. Strict, clean, simple, natural - all words used to describe the easy style most of us pull our hair into every day.
Wear your pony low and loose if you're going for a mussed-up texture - as seen at Alexander Wang and Burberry but avoid the My Little Pony Club-equestrian look by wearing a high ponytail in the centre of the head and no higher than the brow line, unless you're working it with a twist. No exposed hairbands - wrap a piece of hair or a discreet strip of material around it to keep it covered. Play with textures and trimmings – crimp your tails and then adorned with feathers for a glam-boho Seventies feel.

Textured Bob
If you've got a bob and love the length but you want to update your style then ask for a few extra layers. Layered bob creates texture, volume and can take years off!

Autumn winter hair trends
The Twist
Meet the new generation of updos! This style helps show off shiny, glossy locks and can be worn casual like Antonio Marras or as a modern take on the 1940s signature style like Badgley Mischka. Just don't forget your hairspray and lots of grips to ensure your 'do stays put all day.

Blunt Object
Thinking of going for a fringe this season? Forget sleek and subtle, the autumn/winter catwalks were awash with blunt, heavy fringes. Short, long, dark or light – this is one trend that suits all. Team with a nude lip and lots of kohl like Anna Sui or opt for a pared-down eye and statement lip like Krizia – the world's your oyster!

Happy Halloween

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend. Moving on to the next one, it’s Halloween! And we’ve got some spooky-inspired looks at Lovingbeauty.co.uk that will perfect your costume, or give dramatic gothic edge to your usual style (if you hate fancy dress!).

For a Halloween-inspired manicure, try our Jessica ‘top-it-off’ polish that crackles over any nail colour previously applied for a different look every time. We love the orange shade ‘Orange you glad to see me’ for a more traditional Halloween look (think pumpkin!), or the purple ‘Pretty in purple’ for a more gothic-inspired aesthetic (more sexy witch?!). We also have a wide range of Jessica Nail colours in stock… our favourite for this holiday is the dark and glittery shade ‘Midnight Affair’.

We also have a huge range of kooky lashes from La La Lashes to add to your look, from big flicks, to diamante encrusted or even dark-coloured feathers for a dramatic effect that will wow everyone who sees them! Lala Lashes start from £6.95.

To finish your spooky look, why not try some of the Bare Minerals eye shadows, which come in every shade from deep and dark colours to pale  pastels. We recommend the Bare Minerals ‘Rocker Eye’ kit, which comes  complete with a dark liner shade, grey smoky shadow and even darker  shadow with crystal flecks of glitter to add shimmer and shine.

Happy Halloween!

Top tips for the perfect smile .....

Achieving the perfect smile is important to almost everyone. Everyone wants perfect, pearly white teeth that flash when they smile.  Here are some natural teeth whitening techniques which are just as effective as many of the overpriced tooth whitening systems, and do not harm or damage your teeth at all.

1. Place baking soda on a wet toothbrush and clean the area to remove stains and plaque. Gargling with water and baking soda daily for five minutes is a great natural teeth whitening technique.

2. Your diet plays a large part in how white teeth appear over time so make sure you are eating a diet rich in fruits that contain natural acids such as citrus fruits. Using a lemon wedge to clean teeth is one way to help whitening them; Bite down on the wedge for a few minutes a day to remove stains and buildup. Alternately you can rub strawberries over your teeth.

3. Limit coffee, fizzy drinks and red wine intake to prevent stains from occurring. Drink lots of water throughout the day to continually rinse teeth off, preventing stains from setting in. Smoking is another behavior that can lead to stained teeth so another reason to kick the habit!

Autumn Trends ...

So autumn is finally upon us, so I thought I would take some inspiration from the looks that were seen strutting their stuff on the autumn catwalks ....
And Guess What ...... Brows are back
Yet again it appears eyebrows are taking centre stage and the emphasise is on the framing of the eye. To achieve this look, pay extra attention to your eyebrows to finish of that flawless look! Use a brow pencil or powder to define and fill your brows making them look full and natural. This will give an overall powerful, tidy and well defined look to your face.

Its All About The Eyes
The retro look is back this fall, so make sure you get the look with monochromatic-effect makeup, precision lines and heart-stopping lashes. We recommend using bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumising Mascara with some La La Strip Lashes to complete your retro glam look!

Spring-fresh Blushed Cheeks
Its all about a minimal, fresh faced look this fall with highlighted cheek bones in subtle shades. Blusher should be applied in a sweeping motions down from the cheekbone and surrounding the whole cheek. Use shades such as pink, peach and taupe for a more natural glamorous look.

Green Tea and it's Beauty Benefits!

I have recently started drinking Green Tea due to its beauty benefits, but is it really any better for you than a good, old-fashioned cuppa?

I have been looking into this Green Tea malarkey and evidence does suggests that green tea is packed with tons of health and beauty benefits whether that is drinking it or applying directly to your skin. Green tea extract is naturally rich in antioxidants, and can consequently help protect the body from free radicals, which apparently are naturally occurring particles in the body associated with ageing, and major diseases! So you can see why I am drinking 5 cups a day (even if it does taste dreadful!).
There are a few other ways green tea can be used instead of drinking which are equally beneficial to our bodies:

- The leaves can be used as a gentle exfoliant, guaranteed to give your skin a healthy glow.

- Green tea is known for its ability to prevent bad breath – and can be made into tooth paste using green tea and baking soda. The natural properties in the tea will curb mouth odour and help prevent plaque-forming microbes from attaching to the teeth.

- Refreshing facemask to help remove toxins from your skin and leave it silky smooth (mix mayonnaise with green tea leaves).

And even better, green tea is proven to aid weight loss! It apparently raises the metabolic rate and speeds up fat oxidation, it is also thought to reduce cholesterol levels and increase energy expenditure by inhibiting the digestion of fat in the intestine - get drinking girls!

So next time you fancy a cuppa, consider going green. Not only will it provide you with a refreshing drink, it may also boost your health, help slow ageing and even make you slimmer!
